The pros and cons of Jesus |
Jesus warned the crowds who flocked to hear him that following him had a price ...
"For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?"
Jesus would clearly expect us to consider not only the benefits of following him, but also the costs.
Simon Hingston has been a Christian for a number of years, so perhaps we shouldn't be surprised about how he weighs the merits of following Jesus. Come and hear him speak over three weeks on this topic.

20/20 vision: Staring at the Son |
"Wise Socrates also knew enough to know that he did not know enough. He admitted that he simply lacked good answers to many of the ultimate questions. He is reported as having said that we need to need to wait until someone comes from the gods to reveal the answers to us. These sorts of questions make it hard to avoid Him who must not be mentioned - Jesus of Nazareth"

Jesus claims to offer people 20/20 vision when it comes to seeing what God is like. Ian Powell will encourage us, over the course of 2010, to "stare at Jesus", so that we might see God. The dates and topics for Ian's first series are ...
